Perform the step-by-step plan below to solve the problem:
1. Clean the pull-out drawer and frying basket thoroughly in soapy water with a dishwashing brush. Rinse with clean water to ensure no soapy residue remains.
2. Slide the pull-out drawer with the frying basket into the hot air fryer.
3. Set the temperature to 200°C and set the time to 30 minutes. Do not put any food in.
4. Now let the unpleasant odours in the appliance evaporate during these 30 minutes.
Try the following:
- Unplug for at least 10 seconds.
- Plug the power plug back in.
- Check that the pull-out tray is properly inserted in the appliance.
The Smart Fryer should now work properly again.
Is the problem not solved? Within the guarantee period, you can contact the shop where you bought the appliance about this.
With a Smart Fryer, you do not use grease, so cleaning is not much work.
To clean the hot air fryer, follow the steps below:
1. Basket cleaning: In the basket, among other things, you put the snacks which leaves food residues. First, soak the basket for 10 minutes in a basin with warm tap water and a few drops of washing-up liquid. Then you can scrub the basket clean with a soft sponge or washing-up brush. Do not use hard scouring sponges or aggressive degreasers, as these will damage the non-stick coating.
2. Cleaning the inner pan: The inner pan is underneath the basket and catches the food juices and fat. You can clean the inner pan with a soft sponge, warm water and a little bit of washing-up liquid. Again, do not use hard scouring sponges or aggressive degreasers.
3. Clean the heating element: To prevent the hot air fryer from spreading unpleasant odours, it is best to remove grease splashes from the heating element. Remove the plug from the socket and turn the hot-air fryer upside down.
Pull open the drawer of the hot air fryer so that you can easily reach the heating element. Dampen a soft sponge with warm water and some washing-up liquid and squeeze it well. Scrub the element clean. You can brush hard-to-reach corners with an old toothbrush. Then dry the heating element well.
4. With a hot-air fryer, you don't bother much with grease splashes on the outside. In most cases, wiping the appliance with a damp cloth and, if necessary, some detergent is sufficient. Do not use a scouring pad, as this may cause scratches. Dry the outside to avoid stains.
When the Smart Fryer no longer smells so fresh, you can rub the basket and inner pan with lemon juice. This will make the frying smells disappear. Cut a lemon in half and rub the parts with half a lemon, then leave the parts to stand for half an hour so that the lemon juice can do its job. Then rinse and dry the parts.
Yes, you can use this in the Smart Fryer. Just make sure that the aluminium foil or baking paper does not protrude above the edge of the frying basket or can be blown above the edge by the air circulation. This is because there is a risk of fire if it comes into contact with the heat element above the frying basket.
The airflow in a hot air fryer is very important for the baking result. By using foil or baking paper, you close off the holes in the frying basket. The air doesn't flow as well through the appliance and therefore the preparation may take longer or produce a poorer result.
If the dish does not come out of the hot air fryer crispy, then you are probably trying to fry too much at once. Try making smaller portions and shake at least 3 times during cooking.
If you still have doubts about the performance of the hot air fryer, try this test preparation:
- Preheat the hot-air fryer to 200°C.
- Spread 300 gr oven chips evenly in the frying basket.
- Fry the chips for 18 minutes at 200°C.
- Shake the chips well 3 times during cooking, after 10 minutes, 13 minutes and 16 minutes.
This frying test should produce crispy, golden-brown chips. If this is the case, the hot air fryer is working as it should.
A Smartfryer , or Airfryer heats the air inside the appliance to a temperature of about 200°C. The hot air rotates constantly through the pan, heating dishes evenly. Depending on the dish, you set the desired temperature and baking time via the control panel. Some appliances have a specific baking programme for certain ingredients.
